The National Public Transport Gazetteer (NPTG) dataset is a gazetteer of some 50,000 place names in the UK with a name and geospatial coordinates.
The NPTG-Viewer was a tool to compare place information in OpenStreetMap with localities in the NPTG. The tool was a great success enabling the OpenStreetMap community to identify any suburbs, villages and hamlets missing from the map. Although the tool is no longer available, you can still download NTPG data.
