Hand-carved out of copper by traditionally trained Vajrayan artists, this statue has brilliant luster due to the gold gilding. Shakyamuni Buddha can be seen in the statue sitting on a moon disc lotus with an alms bowl resting on his left lap and projecting his recognizable serene demeanor while the halo behind him accentuates his serene expression. He forms the 'Bhumisparsa Mudra' in his left hand, representing one of the most important moments of Buddha's life, i.e. when the Buddha achieved enlightenment as he claimed the earth as his witness for it.
