About The Ritual Item :

Beautifully handmade in Bhutan, this hand-carved wooden Phurba exhibits spiritual significance and extraordinary skill. The elaborate carving and colorful hand-painted decorations depict a multi-armed deity, symbolizing change and protection in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. At 46 cm in height and 38 cm in width, this sacred treasure is a great focal point for your shrine or meditation area.

This Phurba weighs only 1.3 kg and is made of wood, making it lightweight and practical. It symbolizes the spirit of spiritual purification and has long been employed in ceremonies to drive out evil forces. Every element demonstrates the artistry and rich cultural legacy of Bhutanese artisans, from the magnificent skull designs to the deity's elaborate decorations.

Introduction To The Phurba :

The ceremonial dagger (Sanskrit: Kila; Tibetan: phurba) is important for expelling evil and is thought to be especially effective in neutralizing the forces that obstruct Tantric Buddhist practice. It has ancient origins, first appearing in the Indian Rg Veda as the core blade of the vajra used by Indra to destroy the primordial cosmic snake Vritra. Kila, which means peg or stake in Sanskrit, was most likely associated with Vedic sacrifices. Meditation on the Vajrakila Tantra, an early Indian scripture first promoted in Tibet in the eighth century by Padmasambhava, one of the founding teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, is used to invoke the three-headed Vajrakila Buddha.
