In the story of King David, he had older brothers who were "in-line" to be chosen for the royal throne of Israel. The Prophet Samuel went to the house of David's family to anoint who will become King of Israel. David's brothers were older, taller, stronger, and more prolific than David. God spoke these words to Samuel: “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Samuel then arrives to David's family's property and to everyone's surprise, Samuel anoints David to be the next King of Israel.

Sometimes we go to church and will critique on people's appearances based on what they wear. However, this is not appropriate for God's people to do since that is ultimately not what He is looking at.

This design challenges what it means to wear your "Church Clothes" and how ultimately it is not the clothes that we wear that matter, but our hearts before the Lord.

ps: some also may ask "why is the word "Lord" crossed out all over this design? The divine name (YHWH) was increasingly regarded as too sacred to be uttered; it was thus replaced vocally by the Hebrew word Adonai (“My Lord”), which was translated as Kyrios (“Lord”) in translations we have today of God's word.

This design riffs off that idea showing the sacredness of our Lord and the reverence we should have when even thinking of Him as "Lord."
