This is the original and greatest flat Earth world map, originally created by Italian mapmaker Monte Urbano in 1587 in Milan.

This manuscript map is actually 60 separate map sheets, which have then been assembled into a planisphere (the technical name for a flat Earth). The map, of course, has been lovingly restored by The Unique Maps Co. so that you can be assured that this is the finest flat earth map by Urbano that you can find anywhere.

Originally the map would've had a nail driven through the North Pole and rotated, to make it easier to read the map - but, with only two copies of this ultra-rare map known to exist, you can be sure that no nails are going anywhere near the original map!

The map itself is cartographically quite accurate in places - but in some, such as South America, there's clearly some artistic licence at work. North America, Europe, Africa and Asia are rendered fairly well, though.

Zoom into the product listing images and marvel at the level of detail on this map. There are sea beasties and other mythical figures. Ships. Compass roses. Anecdotes and important notes. And, well, just look at the massively distorted Antarctica littered with fantastical beasts!

All in all, this is really quite an amazing map. It needs to be seen to be really believed.

Because this map was originally 10ft (300cm) wide, it is a good idea to get one of my larger versions of this map. 24x24 inches (61x61cm) is the smallest option, but please be aware that the writing will be VERY small. At 36x36 inches (91x91cm) the writing is very small, but just about legible. At 45x45 inches and larger this is a truly sensational map.
