This rum represents the first vintage in the Single Estate Series, crafted from a single year’s harvest.

Appearance:
Light golden color.

Aromas:
Bold citrus, sweet fruit notes, grapefruit, sweet plums, banana, almonds, sea salt, and milk chocolate.

Palate:
Brown sugar, oak, grapefruit, floral notes, and salty smokiness.

Notes from the Farm Team:
“In 2018, the island’s harvest started late. It began in April, with Mount Gay’s harvest kicking off at the end of July, almost Crop Over time. This was the latest we have ever harvested, giving us only one week to harvest all the sugar cane. To meet this deadline, we had to bring in an additional harvester. The time pressure brought the team closer together, forming a real community as we worked diligently to get the job done. Thankfully, the weather was favorable, with minimal rainfall, ensuring efficient delivery.”

“The 2018 harvest was particularly special for me. It was my first year as a Mount Gay employee, working at the Estate and overseeing the sugarcane production. I was thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to join the Mount Gay Team. We had three mechanical harvesters and began the harvest in Bishops Field, right opposite the aging bonds. The cooperative weather and smooth operation allowed us to quickly transport the canes to the Mill. It was a remarkable year for sugarcane, and I am proud to see the end product of our efforts.”

Mount Gay Single Estate Series Rum Release_02 was created using 100% molasses from sugarcane grown at the Mount Gay Estate in St. Lucy, Barbados. The molasses used has a very high sugar content (72%).
