The Buffalo nickel (Indian Head nickel) was minted from 1913 - 1938. Artist and FH + Co. founder, Owen Mortensen, uses this coin as a design medium to create an original art piece, rooted in the ethos of the West. Each coin is colored with natural pigments to accentuate the bison and native American profile on each side of the coin.
