Designed with characteristic small 'air con'-style toilet windows, this model was originally intended for retrofitting with air-conditioning equipment, a modification that never materialized. Crafted with precision at Litchurch Lane, Derby, between 1969 and 1970, these 150 vehicles were built in five distinct designs, primarily for the London Midland Region.
