Mind-blowing Vintage 1950s Silver Oval Locket Necklace In Multiple Colors [ZqutLosC]

Vintage 1950s oval sterling silver locket featuring an textures engraving. On the inside of the locket there are two areas where pictures can be placed.

The locket has a number of marks indicating the piece was hallmarked in 1954 in Birmingham, England by the maker EJC.

HISTORY

The locket has a long rich history, during the earlier centuries, they were used to carry good luck charms, mementoes, hair, powder and even poison. The locket secured its romantic status during the Victorian era, it became the most mysterious and alluring pieces of jewellery. Only the wearer knows what secrets lie within the locket. It was to be the ultimate love token. Pictures held in lockets were originally miniature portraits, these were gradually replaced with photographs.

The locket measures 2.5cm / 1" in height and 1.9cm / 0.7" in width. The locket hangs from a vintage sterling silver chain measuring 45cm / 18" in length
