Hand-painted canvas titled Haystacks, created in 1885 by Claude Monet. The painting belongs to a series of works on the same theme, also known in French as Meules. Another good representative of this period is Wheatstacks, Snow Effect, Morning. On this peaceful afternoon in the countryside, Monet manages to extract all sorts of nuances: multiple colors in each figure and astonishing light effects. The spots on the canvas form a completely diffuse picture; if looked at closely, the depth of field and the incidence of sunlight only appear when standing a few meters away, as most impressionist canvases require.
