Native Americans had Animal Totems or Spirits that could be called upon, by an individual or a tribe, for their special powers to serve as guardians or protectors when facing adversity. Each Animal Totem had a specific meaning. In Native American cultures, wolf is considered a symbol of courage, strength, loyalty, freedom and wisdom. The spirit of the wolf is referred to a teacher, even a spiritual guide known as totem animal.
