I like to gather different stones together, add some whimsical botanical elements and then some gemstone bead clusters. This is one of those pieces. I've combined a 2 carat crystal opal with some uv surface flash, a lovely banded boulder opal wrapped in 18k gold, and a snakeskin carnelian. A small faceted orange sapphire and a larger amethyst round out the satellite "flower bud" stones. I did some leafy cutouts and added some sprouts in oxidized silver and finished up with clusters of amethyst, spessartite garnet, tanzanite, pink tourmaline and apatite on 14k gold pins.

The focal measures about 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches and the chain adjusts from 16 to 18 inches with a hook clasp and extender chain.
