This is a beautiful Sliced Meteorite artfully wrapped in a tension forged sterling silver wire wrap. This is a wonderful piece that has a gently etched pattern across its metallic surface that truly makes it one of a kind. The muted lead-like color is highlighted by the swirling waves of sterling silver which securely grasp the stone and really make it pop. Scientifically, this is a Muonionalusta Meteorite and was part of a falling that landed in Northern Scandinavia west of the border between Sweden and Finland around 1 million years ago. It was first discovered in 1906 near the village of Kitkiojarvi and is thought to be one of the worlds oldest meteorites.

My wire work is all done by me in a tension forging technique using a hammer and anvil. I have been using this technique for almost 17 years with great results. I call it tension forging because all that holds the piece securely in the wrap is the tension of the wire. It is a single piece of wire and there is no glue or solder added making it exceedingly organic while still remaining very secure.
