A very pretty antique French gold locket. The center is adorned with a pearl, rose cut diamonds and black enamel. The locket has two photo compartments inside, and it opens and closes with a good snap. It bears French 'shell' hallmarks for 14k gold; the French law required all gold jewelry to have a minimum purity of 18 karat, but the pieces that were intended for export were marked with the pictorial marks for 14k. The locket is substantial in weight, and the gold feels soft. Overall in very good condition with normal surface wear.
