DESCRIPTION

Vintage art Deco period electro-form bronzed bookends. Based on a famous life size sculpture "End of the Trail" by the artist James Earle Fraser created in 1915. It depicts an exhausted Native American Indian on an equally exhausted and starving horse. These were made in the period 1927 to circa 1935, by The Gift House, Inc. who were mainly a distributor rather than a manufacturer. However they labeled their own castings and also had castings made by at least two other companies including Bonzmet and Nuart. Most are marked with "Gift House Inc, NYC" and various copyright dates from 1924 to 1927. This one is marked 1927.

Each bookend measures 4.75“ wide by 2.5“ deep by 5.25“ tall and both weigh 3lb 13oz.
