a pair of original old & worn Hotel Chelsea swinging hallway "fire" doors. 

these wood, metal and glass doors are very heavy, approx 150lbs each. could be combined into a large sliding barn door. 

these doors indicate many, many decades of wear and are quite beautiful. 

one is marked "8", the other is marked "9". 

the original, damaged fire glass has been removed, and installed are 2 identical custom antique Luxfer tile glass windows from Retroluxe Glass in Atlanta. the tiles are rare, old and valuable and the windows were extremely time consuming to produce. the Luxfer windows were framed in floor wood from the Chelsea hotel in order to make a perfect fit in the door. looks astonishing. 

Hotel Chelsea has long been gutted and all doors and accoutrements are gone. 

these 2 were the only two fire doors snagged before the auction of the salvaged apartment doors. The apartment doors and these 2 doors were rescued on the way to the dumpster. The apartment doors sold for $400,000 total at auction.

These doors were purchased directly from Dan Courtenay from Chelsea Guitars, the only 2 doors he was able to acquire at the very last minute. Includes original hand written receipt.
