This is a magnificent vintage Paiute large turquoise and silver concho belt. This remarkable belt contains outstanding detailed oval and butterfly shaped silver conchos, a total of 19 conchos. Each concho consists of a remarkable center Royston turquoise stone that each measures around 3/8" X 1/4". Surrounding each of the stones are impeccable silver works that consist of sun works, sun stampings, and repoussed shells. Each of the oval shaped conchos measure around 1-1/2" X 1-3/8". What I absolutely love about this belt is that located on the back of each concho are thick hand carved leather pieces which allows the belt to become more sturdy and hold up better. The belt contains a large rectangular shaped buckle that measures around 2-5/8" X 2-1/8" and contains 4 more remarkable Royston turquoise stones. The silver works on the buckle consists of teepee patterns, sun works, and repoussed shells. The total length of the belt measures around 50". Signed by Paiute artist, Michael Rogers. Sterling silver, marked. Cir. 1970's+. Sturdy 275 grams.
