Up for sale is this classic pair of vintage Navajo earrings! They feature diamond shaped #8 turquoise stones, silver rope, silver beads, and silver posts for pierced ears! So Luminous!
The Number 8 turquoise mine, located in Eureka County, Nevada, was discovered around 1925 by an unnamed barber from Carlin. However, significant mining operations began in 1929 when Earl Buffington and Lawrence Springer filed formal claims. The mine gained prominence for producing high-quality turquoise with distinctive spiderweb matrix patterns in colors ranging from golden brown to black, set against a backdrop of soft blue to blue-green stones. A remarkable discovery in 1954 yielded a 150-pound specimen, considered one of the largest turquoise nodules ever found. Mining ceased in 1976, and the site is now primarily mined for gold. Today, Number 8 turquoise remains highly prized among collectors and jewelers for its unique beauty and historical significance. Sterling silver, marked.
