A good antique cast & gilt bronze Islamic engraved lion shaped aquamanile or table lighter/lamp, circa 1860.
The gilt bronze figure is finely modeled as a lion with engraved decoration and two engraved panels of calligraphy on each side of the lion's body. The lamp has an oil reservoir to the interior and the lamp can be filled through the head which has the original; plug, a wick would be inserted through the mouth, the original cover & chain are present when so often they are missing.
Condition is excellent.
