On offer is an original, very charming three [3] page August 11th 1846 manuscript 'journal' of a vacation visit to Nahant Massachusetts including details of Spouting Horn and trip aboard the General Lincoln steamer handwritten by a young girl 'G. Searle' as noted in another hand on the back page. As to age we estimate she may be as young as 8 or as old as 10. At one point she and the members of her party get weighed and she is a mere 60 pounds. Miss Searle has a created an utterly charming account of the family's trip to Nahant in both the way she describes her time and the manner in which she produces her narrative on paper as she alternates in both style from cursive to block printing and using different styles and fonts too to make this one very lovely ephemeral relic of summer travel and family memories. Adding further breadth are a small number of naïve drawings. The 7¾ x 9¾ inch letter is overall G+.
