This petite Tawny owl box is made so it can be mounted easily onto a tree. The most common nesting site for a Tawny owl is usually a mature tree in a woodland or copse, generally within the woodland itself rather than the edges. This box is made from European Redwood pine and left as a rough sawn natural finish.

Tawny Owls are primarily a woodland species, but have adapted to live almost anywhere there are trees, including city parks, wooded urban and suburban gardens, farmland hedgerows and copses, as well as more extensive areas of woodland and forestry. We supply the box with wire and screws to affix to the trunk of a mature tree.  In remote areas look for a spot that is at least 3m (10 feet) from the ground, in more populated areas the box should be mounted at least 4 meters up to avoid vandalism or disturbance. It should be sheltered from strong winds with the entrance avoiding the prevailing winds preferably position your box, so it faces between south and southeast.
