Guide on How to Use Soy #10 Wax:
Vessel Preparation:
Ready your vessels beforehand, or do so concurrently with the wax heating process. This includes wicking the vessels and securing them with wick centering bars prior to adding the hot wax.
Wax Preparation:
Break the Soy #10 wax into smaller chunks for easier melting. This wax is soft enough to be scored and broken into pieces with a simple butter knife.
Heating and Adding Fragrance:
-
Heat the wax to a temperature between 185-190°F, then remove it from the heat source.
-
Add your chosen fragrance oil and dye, blend for 15-30 seconds, and pour immediately.
Pouring the Wax:
For consistently smooth results, it's recommended to pour the wax at a temperature of 170°F.
Special Considerations:
-
In cases of thick glass or room temperatures below 65°F, pre-heating the glass is beneficial. This can be done by placing jars in the oven on the lowest setting or using a heat gun.
-
For achieving smoother top surfaces consider using a heat lamp after the candle has set, or placing the candle on a raised cooling rack.
Fragrance Load and Curing:
-
The wax can handle a fragrance load ranging from 8-12%. Testing higher fragrance loads with each specific fragrance is recommended.
-
A curing time of 1-2 weeks is suggested to ensure the best cold and hot throw from your candles.
