Here’s a Hot Item Tannoy Type 1 Ribbon Microphone Perfect For Gifting [dMTRyfWH] from the 1940’s! Tannoy was based out of London and made public address systems and microphones. This Type 1 was the first ribbon microphone they made. This one has a nice solid cast iron body and large magnets that give it a typical early big ribbon sound. The original transformers in these can be noisy, so I upgraded it with a new FAB transformer. The original ribbon in this microphone is still in perfect condition! This Type 1 has a prominent low end and surprisingly nice output for an 80 year old microphone. This one makes a nice option for drums, guitars, horns, and even some vocals. These Type 1’s can be hard to find and need a full restoration job to be usable for modern use! This one has a small part of the body broken off and some paint chips here and there - I personally think that wear on these microphones looks cool, and despite the wear this one is fully functional (However, the price is a bit lower than usual for one of these due to the wear). Grab this early Type 1 Ribbon Microphone from Tannoy!
