This spectacular, room-size, antique, art deco Chinese carpet will bring brilliant color, elegance and memorable charm to any large indoor space.

Weavers in China diligently hand-knotted the rug c. 1920's. At that time, American entrepreneur and designer Walter Nichols invested in Chinese carpet workshops, and popularized the now-famous art deco floor textiles. This rug's age, colors, materials, weaving techniques, and overall style closely resemble the Nichols pieces.

In terms of condition, I washed the rug by hand in April, 2024, and stored it carefully afterwards. The colors and design show beautifully. However, the pile is worn in several spots, and the long edges of the rug show some distress. Numerous white foundation dots also appear on the rug's surface, which is quite common in genuine antique Chinese rugs of the art deco era. Please view the photos and video for full details.
