A sterling silver drinking flask.  This exceptional quality piece is one of the finest drinking flasks from the period.  It has an extremely heavy gauge silver that has remained in superb condition.  The sterling silver lid is a classic "bayonet" form of lid, allowing for easy access to drink from.  The lid itself is very thick, heavy gauge silver and is beautifully threaded to meet cleanly to the neck once screwed down.  

The body of the flask is clean, simple and free from adornment or personalisation.  This means it will fit neatly into a jacket breast pocket, or even a back pocket of a jean or trouser. It also has a lovely curve to the back allowing it to form well to the body.

The base of the flask has a number of stamped product numbers as well as 'Tiffany & Co.' and a capital 'M', and 'Sterling'.  This allows the piece to be dated for production under the stewardship of John C. Moore II, who was head of Tiffany between 1907-1947. It also has the capacity stamped onto the base, which is fairly unusual: "2 Gils".  The Oxford English Dictionary defines a gill as "a measure of liquids containing one fourth of a standard pint." Thus, at one-fourth of a pint, a gill equates to four ounces. With two pints to the quart and four quarts to the gallon, there are 32 gills to the gallon. Two gills is half a US pint! So more than adequate amount.

The flask is in superb condition overall, and is a solid thick gauge. It is the perfect companion to a sports game, the racing, or a picnic. Made in America, circa 1930's.
