This runnel/rill spill collector is manufactured to be paired with Martin runnel channels as the last component before spilling over a wall into a large pond/basin below.  Normally they are positioned perpendicular to the Martin channels to turn the water for it's final descent into the awaiting pond below.  Since the width of spillway is 12", compared to the 8" of the Martin channels, there is a supplemental water feed inlet in the side of the Langley runnel/rill basin.  This allows for control over the volume of water through the channels and off the Langley's lip independently.
