This layered boro cloth is composed mainly of checked cottons; the cloth was probably taken from a futon cover which over time has been mended.
The arrangement of patches to the base cloth is artful and very beautifully done: the entire piece is hand stitched. There are six patches in all, with a dominant patch of good looking, hand spun, indigo dyed cotton dominating the left-hand side of the piece.
This boro cloth is of a nice size and could be a beautiful home accessory--or it could be admired on its own, as art.
