Editor's Pick A Panel From A Sakiori Kotatsugake: Pale Toned Traditional Ragweave ~ Limited Availability [zjOimk02]

This is a really gorgeous length of sakiori, a kind of weaving that uses shredded cloth for its weft yarn; sakiori is rag weave.

The thick, warp yarns are bright white cotton and are densely set, which gives an overall, soft color tone to the ragweave panel whose weft yarns are heavily saturated colors: black, deep blue, fuchsia and orange.  There are also strands of pale pink, and white colored weft yarns.  Because of the predominant warp yarns, the sakiori panel reads a soft, variegated grey.

Most likely this sakiori panel is taken from a kotatsugake or hearth cover.  It shows one, subtle stain, about the size of a peach pit, which is pictured on the accompanying detail photos.
