This is a length of starched, hand woven cotton that is composed of two pieces which are hand stitched together: a very long length showing gradient stripes in three color tones and a very short piece which shows wide stripes of a different pattern.

The gradient stripes are in colors of rich blue and dark blue; ochre and dark blue; grey-blue and dark blue. Their varying widths and they way color is applied to them is said to suggest a waterfall.

The color is still nice and rich and the condition is good and used. As mentioned above the length has been starched and as this is the case it is a bit rigid and, more over, the reverse side shows a surface of small flecks of cotton floss that have been captured onto the surface by the starch.

A beautiful length of old cotton in a rich yet muted color palette with a fine design and good details.
