Holiday Gift Guide Clive On Bike Tool [8sX653yv]

This is a quick pen and ink and gouache drawing of journalist Clive Thompson. Clive, an avid cyclist and writer who is working on a book on cycling, posed for me with his bicycle. Here he is just getting off his bike.

This style of drawing is one I'm really enjoying. The lines and the colors play off each other, and are all done quickly to create a sense of motion and thought.

This is one of the many preparatory drawings for a monumental portrait painting that I'm working on. 

I like this particular pose since it's fairly realistic. It's what people do with bikes, and it's how you might see Clive waiting for a stop light.
