On Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, near the playground, I settled into a drawing of the Brooklyn Bridge, with the Manhattan Bridge quietly framing the background. Tourists wandered by, children played noisily, but for once, the distractions fell away—I was fully present.

The Brooklyn Bridge was recently cleaned, its stone and cables taking on a vibrant, almost translucent quality under sunlight. With brush, ink, and watercolor, I tried to capture this unexpected brightness—light catching on surfaces, color softening against the open sky. Drawing the two bridges together gave the scene authenticity, depth, and a sense of place.
