There is moderate corrosion and rusting to this buckle. There are actually 2 holes in the front, and there is some lifting to the steel near these holes. But it is still mostly solid and actually has some decent detailing to the eagle, motto and wreath. It is maker marked E.S.L for the maker E. Schneider, Lüdenscheid. It is dated 40 under the catch. This has a very nice tab that is soft and supple, and also nicely marked for Schneider. This buckle is in very salty condition but has a lot of character! Bargain priced.
