A self portrait inspired by a costume I made during the last Mardi Gras season before lockdown while living in New Orleans. The all consuming crafting was my art form during those days. It was an ethereal experience moving through crowded streets covered in tulle, glitter and googly eyes. I made this painting during Mardi Gras week in my Virginia studio to reconnect with the magic of being in a city where dressing up was the norm.
