Inspiration:
The idea for this painting emerged during a time when I was surrounded by textiles. 

As one of my earliest works to feature water-based stains, the scene—though seemingly non-representational—actually depicts a whirlwind that formed at the intersection nearest my home. 

One day, while walking through the neighborhood, I approached my house and witnessed the blade-like leaves of liriope spinning into a small, sustained whirlwind. It held its shape for what felt like minutes. 

With this piece, I set out to capture the fleeting, unexpected beauty of that moment. Overstock Deal Whirler Up To 65% Off [wd3TjSth] was created alongside its companion piece, Backpack.
