Lepidocrocite Quartz

Strawberry quartz is transparent to semi-transparent quartz which contains Lepidocrocite- Iron hydroxide mineral inclusion- that gives a very unique brown to orangey Red body color to them. And this variety of quartz is well known as one of the constituents of Super Seven, or Melody stone and it is sometimes sold as Red Fire Quartz. The stone is primarily found in Madagascar where quartz crystal have been discovered that have “Phantom” inclusions of Lepidocrocite near the terminations ... but it may also come from Spain or India. Its color is reddish brown to a darker red and may vary from piece to piece, as it depends on what the type of other mineral it is included in.

As the matter of fact that many of Lepidocrocite quartz contain platelet like inclusions which sometimes create glittering effect similar to those in aventurine sunstone.
