Seasonal Pick Roady Prototype: Titanium Grip & Barrel, Magnesium Cap Up To 55% Off [FjeNsrqW]

This Roady prototype has two firsts for us...

1) our first Titanium back barrel to go along with our standard Titanium grip. We love the dark tinted drey of Titanium... and we've left these in 'as machined' condition.

2) our first Magnesium cap... and in a new grooved style. Magnesium is the lightest of all structural metals and has a white-silver appearance. You don't see magnesium used much in the machining world as it has special requirements when processing. Magnesium also oxides rapidly, so to keep the brighter silver color we like, a clear coat has been applied to the part. The resulting pen is a cool two tone metal look. 

Spoke Roady is compatible with any 'Parker style' refill and ships with a premium Uni Jetstream SXR-600-07 Black 0.7mm refill.

It's a prototype, what does that mean?

We make small quantities of certain parts and designs to try out. Sometimes we then make more and offer them as our 'standard' products, other times after review make changes and adjustments. Sometimes we make the prototypes and that's it. Making small quantities is expensive and magnesium is extra expensive to process, so our pricing reflects that.

We usually keep the cosmetics of prototypes towards the 'raw' side. For these 'bare' metal parts, we've mostly kept them 'as machined'. The Magnesium parts are lightly brushed and clear coated to prevent darker oxidation. The clear coat was hand applied and is not perfect, with small bubbles and flow areas possibly present. Through extended use these pens will likely take on some degree of wear marks and patina.

Will there be more?

In this case, the Titanium back barrel will be offered on future Roady versions. The groove style cap geometry will likely be offered going forward, but not in Magnesium. We made 25 of the Magnesium caps and have no plans to make more due to yield issues. 14 of the 25 caps are offered on this Roady prototype version. So, if you like something limited and unique, this could be the pen for you. Remember, it's a prototype:)
