Essential Late 1960’s Geoffrey Beene Patchwork Velvet Gown | Vintage Collection [QIzLVR4T]

Rare vintage late 1960's GEOFFREY BEENE gown. Colorful cotton bodice + orange velvet and patchwork skirt. Silk-satin and velvet trim. Interior petersham waistband. Back zipper closure. Self-covered snaps at the wrists. Couture-quality construction throughout. 

Mel's Notes: This absolute stunner was a mystery when I first found it. It had its original Saks Fifth Avenue tag, but no maker's label. After some google research, I was able to find two examples of the exact same dress in other collections, but with their original Geoffrey Beene labels intact. The gown itself is quite heavy - especially the full velvet skirt, which is fully lined and trimmed with gorgeous bands of silk-satin at the hem. The top half is much lighter-weight with articulated Bishop sleeves.
