Bring back the tradition of blessing yourself and loved ones upon entering and leaving your home!
A striking porcelain PASSION OF THE CHRIST CRUCIFIX HOLY WATER FONT. The beautifully crafted porcelain holy water font is hand-glazed in white with gold gilt. The font is in wonderful condition and measures 5 ⅞” tall by 3" wide. There are no marking on the back. Designed with a hole on the top of the cross for hanging on a nail.
The body of the font's front side is a gold-gilt hand-painted statue of the Christ on the cross. The notice above the cross with the letters INRI, meaning "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" is also in gold gilt. Two female worshippers kneel on the sides of the cross, most likely depicting Mary, the mother of Christ, and either her sister, Mary, the wife of Clopas, or Mary Magdalene.
Gold gilt also decorates the vessel--on the rim and a leaf motif design on the front. Although not marked, the font is reminiscent of German or French antique porcelain.
Perfect gift for many occasions. From baptisms, first communions, and confirmations, birthdays, Easter gifts, or house blessings, this font will encourage daily blessing and be treasured for a lifetime. Place in a nursery or child’s room to nightly bless your sleeping children.
*Holy water not included.
