Black and white real photo postcard featuring an early "TOURING SEDAN CONVERTIBLE AUTOMOBILE", possibly a Buick. Interesting photo of family and friends out for an afternoon drive dressed in their Sunday best, including male passenger dressed in white top hat and top coat.
The postcard does not include an handwritten caption or information that could determine the location. Based on the CYKO imprint in the stamp box, it was printed using chloride paper between 1904 and the 1920s. Chloride print papers used silver in their emulsions and as time passes silver tends to migrate to the surface of the print creating tell-tale metallic patches, which on this postcard is visible.
Postcard collectors know that an early postcard message can be a glimpse into the past, since in the early twentieth century, a postcard message was equivalent to a telephone call or text message today. And the message on this postcard is a great example.
