The development of the PRL High Volume Intake System for the 2023 Honda Civic Type-R FL5 and 2024-up Integra Type-S is now finished. Drawing from their experience with the FK8 HVI, PRL has made significant enhancements to the materials, construction, and overall design of this intake. The result is a top-of-the-line product that rivals other options available. Featuring a 6" cone filter and an HDPE rotomolded air box, this PRL FL5 Civic Type-R High Volume Intake system utilizes the factory air duct and seal for maximum airflow and reduced heat-soak.

The factory rubber inlet connects to the box and extends over the core support. This rubber duct seals to the hood and channels air into the airbox via a duct in front of the radiator support.  PRL's experience from their development on the FK8 intake, has shown the importance of keeping these cars cool during hard driving. Third-party testing revealed a 10-20hp loss when the hood is closed, indicating that the factory duct is a point of restriction, which is why PRL developed the secondary duct to address this issue of air starvation.

With PRL's integration, there is 133% more airflow compared to the original unit due to a larger opening and a secondary duct eliminating airflow restrictions. The intake system maintains a free-breathing design with PRL's stepped silicone and smooth transitions between components to minimize resistance.
