Where It All Began - The First Panther

The German WWII tank Panther Ausf.D was known for its complete performance package, featuring the L/70 7.5cm gun, sloped armor, and a powerful 700hp gasoline engine. Production of this debut variant began in January of 1943 and continued until September of that year, with 840 units being produced. The Ausf.D first appeared on the battlefield in the Battle of Kursk in July of 1943, where it was able to take out 140 Soviet tanks from distances of 1,500 to 2,000 meters. Despite facing challenges, the Panther remained on the front line until the end of the war and paved the way for future improvements in German armored vehicle design.
