All-in-one Château Vieux Taillefer 'blanc De Vieux Taillefer' Vin De Bordeaux 2019 Up To 80% Off [zjFnvOHM]

The Blanc du Château Vieux Taillefer is a cuvée that revives the history of the right bank of Bordeaux. This blend of five different grape varieties, a singular wine blended in majority with Merlot Blanc. It comes from a plot located in Saint-Christophe des Bardes, on a limestone soil , in the heart of the Saint-Emilion appellation. Grown from 75 year old vines. Today we own the only existing white Merlot vines of the appellation. This blend is vinified and matured in slightly toasted new oak barrels from the Center- France region. Our barrels are 300 liters and shaped like cigars.

This wine is distinguished by its singularity, but above all by the floral notes that emerge on the first nose, beautiful bitterness, and a salinity. This is specific to the great limestone soils where the very best French whites are produced.

Although it comes from the Saint-Emilion appellation, we have decided to produce it as a “vin de table”.

They produce about 2000 bottles of the Blanc du Château Vieux Taillefer every year.

The couple has approached the Château with a more Burgundian‐type sensibility. They make two different red wines that are defined by soil, rather than the old hierarchical system normally employed in Bordeaux consisting of a “First” and “Second” wine. All fruit is hand-harvested and undergoes a careful sorting before it is vinified in concrete tanks. The work here is 100% organic, thus there are no chemicals used in the vineyards nor the winery. There is no fining nor filtration, and the Cohens are quick to point out, they employ no consultants at Vieux Taillefer. The aim is to produce wines of great terroir.
