Meet the down-to-earth side of the PDP Specialty Snares family: the PDP Concept Series Black Wax Maple Snares. The dark, smooth, matte finish on these drums comes from a hand-applied, wax-based sealer, which protects the all-maple shell, lets the wood grain show through, and gives the collection a deceptively understated look.

The Black Wax Snares come in six sizes, all made with 10-ply maple shells, so you can find an appropriate snare for virtually any musical scenario. Each size offers its own mix of warm, maple depth, focused articulation, and just the right pop. 

Choose from 6”x12”, 7”x13”, 5.5”x13”, 5.5”x14”, 6.5”x14”, and the scrappy 6”x10”.The 6”x10” even has a built-on tom mounting bracket, making it easy and versatile to mount as a side snare! 

Like our other Concept Series snare drums, all the Black Wax Snares are outfitted with PDP’s dual-turret lugs, the innovative, MAG throw-off, DW’s True Pitch tension rods, and world-class drum heads from Remo. The snare wires are fully-chromed, with carbon steel coils and brass end plates, for exceptional texture and control.
