Ethan Caflisch’s Here to help series explores time’s passage through hand-sewn works, mixed media, and assemblages. Weaving together three years of studio practice, he allows past and present to intersect through material and memory. Each piece is an artifact—stitched, layered, and reassembled into a visual language of connection and distance.

Landscapes emerge as recurring motifs, framed to exist in the liminal space between here and there. Love forgotten and love rediscovered mirror the physical act of stitching—gestures that hold both the past and the presence of something new. Caflisch embraces imperfection and process, revealing memory as fragmented, shifting, and continuously reshaped.

i love making connections from past to present. this collection of works covers snippets of the past three years in my studio, interweaving and intersecting. there is a lot of distance that’s occurred over that period of time, newly created and ever-present. love that’s been forgotten and new love found; but a common
through-line of materiality, landscape, always framed to show something which is neither here or there but here and there.
