This is an antique 7’6x11’1 Persian rug in pristine condition. With an early 20^th century provenance, the rug is made from high quality wool and organic vegetable dyes to stand the rigors of age and time. The colors in the rugs have oxidized to present the ‘abrash’ quality, the hue variations within the same colors, the Persian rugs are renowned for. The interplay of light, angle of view and color on the rug present light and dark side to the rug. Woven using knots 30 to 80 per square inch, Heriz rugs do not seem to be tightly woven as their Persian counterparts like Tabriz but are durable and famed for their longevity.
