In this 1960’s poster for United Air Lines created by Stan Galli , we see the Golden Gate Bridge which is symbolic of San Francisco. At the time of its opening in 1937, it was both the longest and the tallest suspension bridge in the world, with a main span of 4,200 feet (1,280 m) and a total height of 746 feet (227 m).

United Airlines, Inc., commonly referred to as United, is a major U.S. airline headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Stan Galli (1912 - 2009) was a well-known illustrator and painter who devoted the majority of his career to advertising art of all sorts. Mr. Galli's art hangs in the Pentagon, the Baseball Hall of Fame and other places of note; his work has been shown at the Smithsonian Institution, the New York Historical Society and the Grand Central Gallery in New York.
