Historical reproduction of a 14th-century German Krautstrunk beaker. The German word krautstrunk, meaning cabbage stalk, suggests the glassware’s likeness to the staple brassica crop. The Krautstrunk beaker is a type of Waldglas or “forest glass”; its name denotes the Northern European woods where these vessels were traditionally made, whose iron-oxide rich soil and beech trees gave the glassware its natural verdant hue.

This tall beaker rises from a distinct ten-pronged foot ring to a flared rim, its small soft-pointed prunts arranged in a quincunx pattern.
