This balancer will not only help to balance the weight of a trombone front to back, but also side to side.  The design of the mount enables the player to rotate the weight of the trombone to offset the side weight. It allows the player to get the trombone into a position that is more parallel to the floor for optimum leverage. This side-to-side balance results in less wrist fatigue, less overall fatigue, and a more perfect embouchure with less effort. This is everyone's goal!

Olsen makes 2 balancer weights.  This balancer, the larger weight, is the standard weight for a tenor trombone - 5.2 ounces.

The smaller weight (3.4 ounces) is available by special order, and when you add that to the larger one it is the standard weight for a bass trombone. You can use one weight or both.

If you have issues putting your horn into the case with the balancer attached, simply loosen the screws that hold the rod into the mounting clamp and remove the weights.  When you are ready to play just reinsert the rod and tighten the screws.

In early testing we have found that it is very helpful for people with weak or damaged wrists and/or hands. We soon discovered that normal players get great results also. Achieve longer duration and improved quality of play with less fatigue.
