Bob Dylan, the Folk-Rock poet of the 60s, is renowned worldwide for his dance with counterculture. Much like Dylan who advocated a radically different vision for society, famed artist Milton Glaser seamlessly transports us to the 60s with a psychedelic wave of his wand.
In 1967 Dylan suffered a near fatal motorcycle accident and was even rumored to be dead. In order to generate positive publicity for his upcoming music, CBS commissioned graphic artist Milton Glaser to create a special poster to be packaged with the album. According to Glaser, his now-iconic Dylan poster was a new form of poster, created as a bonus insert for Bob Dylan’s Greatest hits album in 1967.
Taking notes from French-American artist Marcel Duchamp's self portrait, Glaser uses his artistry to design Dylan’s silhouette topped with cascading kaleidoscope curls. Glaser also created his very own type face for the word “DYLAN” found at the bottom right corner.
Fun Fact: If you look closely you can see the words “Elvis” in Bob Dylan’s pastel curls. Wow! What a piece of art.
Condition: Good to Very Good. Original horizontal and vertical folds present. Age toning in accordance with posters age. Minor fading along original fold lines. Light background creasing. Please use zoom feature to get a better understanding of overall condition.
