Edward Wormley for Dunbar, c.1950s, USA, La Gondola sofa. The extra long sofa features a mahogany frame that supports the backrest and seat offering a floating effect to the seat back. Though a seemingly simple design this sofa is recognized as one of the best designs from Edward Wormley. Showcasing subtle curves and tufted cushions, the entire sofa has been newly upholstered under the guidance of Andre Mellone of Studio Mellone in NYC. The sofa, piping and buttons are all finished in cotton-linen blend fabrics from Rogers and Goffigon. The textured oatmeal fabric alongside the mustardy velvet, offers a modern and sophisticated feel with a strong nod to the original design.
